While I'm positively thrilled to have a Nigella show on Food Network (despite the fact that I still refuse to get cable and will have to catch it in other ways anyway), this article about the bastardization of cooking shows by The Food Network is fantastic.

I don't know that I'll ever fully get accustomed to the fact that I am an "adult" and, thus, can eat whatever the blue hells I want to eat (accepting potential consequences therefor, of course) without having to worry about real concepts of balance or social eating mores ( Read more... )

For years I thought I didn't like sauerkraut (I'd only ever had my grandmother's and, as my dad laughingly confirmed a year ago once I tried some "real" kraut, my grandmother "never could make good kraut.") Dear Writers of the McDonald's sweet tea commercial I heard on the radio this morning,

It's pronounced "peck-oh," not "peek-oh." If you're going to try to insert a nod to culture in your commercials, try to get it right.
